On December 7, 2011, at the ‘Heritage Gallery, an auction of paintings, graphic works and decorative and applied art of the 19th-21st centuries will be held. Russian design, for the first time, will be a central theme of an auction held in Russia.
The ‘Heritage Gallery is proposing that the phenomenon of Russian design be seen through the prism of traditions and historic heritage. The works by the modern Russian artists at the ‘Heritage Gallery will be presented alongside sledges and spinning wheels from the Russian North, and furniture pieces created by Russian craftsmen of the 19th-20th centuries.
The works of contemporary design presented at the auction at the ‘Heritage Gallery have been created as one-offs or in limited editions, making them collectible art objects.
Auction No.5 will comprise a traditional painting and graphic works section of the 19th-20th centuries, which will present works by such renowned Russian artists as Boris Grigoriev, Alexandre Benois, Zinaida Serebriakova, Georges Pogedaeff, Nathan Altman, Konstantin Eliseyev, Vera Rokhline and Anatoly Zverev. Contemporary art is represented by works by Ivan Lubennikov, Vladimir Glynin, Serge Mendjisky, Alexaner Zakharov and others.
The exhibition of the lots will be held on December 5-6, from midday to 8 p.m.
The auction will be held on December 7, 2011 at 19.00.
